Tracy K. Smith
American poet and educator.
Tracy became interested in writing and poetry in elementary school. Her favorites included Emily Dickinson and Mark Twain. For Tracy, Dickinson’s poems were “magic” to her ears.
A.B. from Harvard University, M.F.A. in creative writing from Columbia University. Writer, poet, wife, mother, teacher…and she’s 45 years young!
In 2002, she received the Cave Canem Prize. 2006, the James Laughlin Award. 2012 she won a Pulitzer Prize for Poetry. In 2018, she’ll launch her fifth book, “Wade in the Water”
