A HERO WORKS AT M&T BANK!
September 2021, my husband was diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver. January 2022, he was placed on the liver donor list.
One day, I walked into my local M&T Bank distraught and upset because my search for a living donor was failing. Deborah Johnson heard my plea, came out of her office and said, “I’ll do it!”
I stood there in awe. I was speechless. I had never met this woman before. I began to cry as did several tellers. I looked at her still in shock. She smiled at me and told me to give her the information and the phone number to call. She explained that she was leaving for vacation the next day; however, the moment she returned she would begin the process and get back to me with a date for my husband’s transplant. Who…does this? Heroes! That’s who!
At 10:30 p.m. on June 14th Dr. Kato called to say he had a perfect match. June 15, 2022 my husband David received a new liver and on June 21st, I brought him home from New York-Presbyterian Hospital. I immediately called the Dover Plains Branch to let everyone know about his surgery and to share the news with his hero Deborah Johnson the moment she returned from her vacation.
