More Roles For Women

“They wanted me to play a Bond girl in Casino Royale,” says Angelina Jolie. “I said, Actually, I’d prefer to play him; I’d rather be Bond.”

Angelina Jolie is  the original Badass.  Remember when she was married to Billy Bob Thornton and wore a necklace with a vile blood? Oh yeah right? We are more accustomed to Angie, at the Met Gala or traveling the globe providing humanitarian aid and relief.  However,  Angelina Jolie is the quintessential: find you one that can do both.  Thank you, Angie for reminding the world that beauty can be both dark and strange and  that women can still have the biggest hearts , while still being a  little bad.   Society always tries to categorize women into their neat boxes because it is easier than accepting our many layers, dimensions, and beautiful contradictions.   It is important that the narrative is stretched: that women are seen beyond the damsel or so often, “The woman behind the man.”   We women are not helpless, we are not powerless, nor are we without drive and direction.   Why should boys get all the toys then?  So Angie get your gun and come out swinging.  There is no role women that you were not born to play; never forget.
